# .......Mineral Specimen: NUEVO LEONE CALCITES rhomb Location of Deposit: NUEVO LEONE, MEXICO Description: These Calcites from Nuevo Leone, Mexico are very unique specimens that glow a pretty pink color under a Longwave Ultra Violet Light (blacklight) and a Blue Color under a Shortwave Ultra Violet Light. These are also very Phosphorescent that will glow a short time after the lamp is turned off after a shortwave exposure. Calcite (Fluorescent & Phosphorescent). These crystals are cleaved sections of a much larger chunk of optical (transparent) calcite. What make this specimen 'special' is that it will fluoresce a nice bluish violet color under Shortwave Ultraviolet light and a nice pink color under long wave ultraviolet light. These specimens will also phosphoresce after exposure to short wave ultraviolet light for several seconds and sometimes for up to a minute or more. Phosphorescence is a specific type of photoluminescence related to fluorescence. Unlike fluorescencež a phosphorescent material does not immediately re-emit the radiation it absorbs. It releases the energy over a longer time after the light source has been removed which may vary from seconds to sometimes hours or more. These are very interesting specimens.Metaphysical properties include aid in memory, and in balancing the mental and the emotional. Sahasrara chakra (crown). Cancer astrological sign. Description: This specimen has NON_Fluorescent Calcite in matrix with Fluorescent Calcite that does Fluoresces a nice Salmon Orange color under a Shortwave Ultra Violet Light. Calcite is a common mineral that is most familiar to us a limestone and marble, but also occurs in pink crystal rocks that separate into cleavages.
