# .......Minerals Species: DUCK BILL SELENITE Location of Mineral Deposit: Red River Spillway near Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Description: These nice balls of golden honey tiny Selenite crystals ( var: Gypsum. The Selenite Fluoresces a nice Pale Blue or Turquoise color under a Shortwave Ultra Violet Light and is also phosphorescent after exposure to shortwave Ultra Violet Light for a few seconds . Phosphorescence is a specific type of photoluminescence related to fluorescence. Unlike fluorescencež a phosphorescent material does not immediately re-emit the radiation it absorbs. It releases the energy over a longer time after the light source has been removed which may vary from seconds to sometimes hours or more.

# .......Minerals Species: HALITE xls on SELENITE xls Location of Mineral Deposit: LAS SALINAS, PARACAS PISCO, ICA DEPT., PERU Description: This specimen matrix of Halite (Salt) is Non-Fluorescent & the Golden Yellow Selenites are Fluorescent & Phosphorescent. These are an interesting and unusual combination specimen of halite (salt) and Selenite. The halite forms the matrix and forms as cubic crystals that are a pale yellowish-white color and are transparent to translucent. The Selenite forms as well formed and sharp bladed crystals that are a bright yellow color and are transparent. All in all this is an attractive combination. The Selenite Fluoresces a nice Pale Blue or Turquoise color under a Shortwave Ultraviolet Light and is also phosphorescent after exposure to shortwave Ultra Violet Light for a few seconds .
