Minerals Species: Dog Tooth CALCITE xls in a FOSSIL CLAM Location of Mineral Deposit: RUCKS PIT, FORT DRUM, OKEECHOBEE COUNTY, FLORIDA Description: These specimens of Calcite Fluoresce Under Shortwave Ultra Violet Light in a Creamy White color and are Phosphorescent. These also Fluoresce under a Longwave Ultra Violet Light brighter and more Yellowish in color. The Calcite dogtooth shaped crystals are growing in a fragment of a fossil Clam shell, and it exhibits the same fluorescent qualities as the Calcite. You are looking at a unique and beautiful mineral/fossil specimen from Florida. It features a fossil shell of the clam genus Mercenaria that has been partially replaced by many crystals of gorgeous, light golden Calcite. This specimen has an easily recognizable, two-sided shell almost totally filled with sharp, golden Calcite crystals. A very unusual and quite attractive specimen, with good definition of both halves of the shell, and almost no damage to the Calcites crystals.
